Aanii Parents and Guardians,
The Wikwemikong Board of Education (WBE) is dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of our students, recognizing that strong minds, bodies, and spirits are integral to student success. As part of this commitment, we are currently completing a population health assessment for students in grades 3 to 12 using the Aaniish Naa Gegii: The Children’s Health and Well-being Measure.
Aaniish Naa Gegii is a self-reported wellness assessment tool that takes a strengths-based approach, focusing on the positive aspects of our students’ health and well-being. This innovative tool is designed to provide immediate feedback to students, empowering them with insights about their own wellness while also helping educators identify areas of strength and growth at both the individual and community levels.
Key points about the assessment:
- Strengths-Based Approach: The focus is on recognizing and building upon students' existing strengths.
- Real-Time Results: Students receive their results immediately, allowing for timely reflection and self-awareness.
- Confidentiality: All responses are confidential and will be used to support the development of wellness initiatives within our schools and community.
The results of this assessment will inform WBE’s ongoing efforts to create programs and resources that promote health and well-being for all students. This work aligns with our vision of nurturing the whole student—mind, body, and spirit—within the context of our culture and values.
The Aaniish Naa Gegii: The Children’s Health and Well-being Measure will be implemented at each school on the following dates:
Junior School (grade 3 only)- January 23, 2025
Pontiac School- February 27, 2025
High School- February 3, 2025
We understand that parents and guardians play a vital role in supporting their child’s well-being. If you have any questions about the Aaniish Naa Gegii assessment or how the results will be used, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school principal.
